Review of Motorola PHOTON 4G
Introduction:
In the last few years, Motorola has been on the far end of the spectrum when it comes to mobile phones. However, when the little green robot, the iconic image for the Android system, came to the rescue, Motorola’s sales figures have shot up beyond the roof. Sprint’s current status may not be too good however with their new partnership with one of the most celebrated mobile phone companies of the decade, Sprint will be aiming to be one of the country’s top three carriers. Sprint and Motorola joined forces in order to offer the public the Motorola Photon 4G which is characterized as a beastly phone with lots of massively good specs. Some of the things that you would like are the 4.3” qHD display, 1GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 8 megapixel camera with 720p video capability and a kickstand. It is also a world phone with WiMax 4G from Sprint. A microUSB cable and an AC adapter are included in the package.
Design:
The Motorola Photon 4G is very much the same as the Razr V9m. Its dark gunmetal housing that surrounds the 4.3” display as well as the soft feel of the casing around the battery, the Photon 4G is very much like the Razr. However, even if the Photon 4G was inspired by one of the biggest flip phones back in the day, it is still a league of its own. It is comfortable to use and very well constructed.
A 4.3” display would initially turn heads however now it is just the normal feature of most phones. The Photon 4G does not just conform to the standard 4.3” display but because of its high quality images and the qHD display, it will definitely stand out from the rest. It has brilliant colors, vivid images, bright and crisp display. Its above average viewing angle is great and there are no issues with viewing it in direct light.
The Motorola Photon 4G is quite big however it is still well balanced when held. It may be quite angular when seen for the first time but the back of the phone has a good round shape to it which gives it the comfort. The volume rocker and the camera key are both textured which makes them easy to locate when needed. The feedback from these buttons is also excellent.
One great thing about the Photon 4G is its kickstand which makes it stand out from the rest of the similar handsets. Motorola also included a sensor that enables the Widget Clock app. The kickstand is very stable and it comes in handy. The microUSB is positioned on the left side of the phone which is a dismay when the kickstand is in position. Overall though, the kickstand was well constructed and allows for the phone to be turned the other way.
In summary, Motorola has done a wonderful job on the Photon 4G. Even if it looks just like other black slab devices, it still stands out from the rest and puts back Motorola on top.
