Here’s a vintage NBC Today Show segment on Personal Watercraft with Katie Couric and Andy Pargh, The Gadget Guru. This was performed LIVE from the Sanabel Bell Harbor Resort and Spa in Ft. Myers, Florida. Featured are Personal Watercraft from Yamaha, Kawasaki and Sea Doo and introducing the first generation of Personal Jet Boats from Sea Doo and Baylinee. One of those big 1993 “family oriented” Sea-doo GTX’s was the IJSBA world pro slalom champion and also a very strong runner in regular closed course races. The Yamaha pro-VXR’s were just a bigger engine added to an already very very poor design. There was no comparison to the Sea-doo XP or even the big GTX. It’s too bad they didn’t show the Yamaha wave blaster! 1993 PWC of the year and for good reason too!
