i have windows sidebar on my laptop that can detect the network signal status. if i use the inbuilt wireless adapter these gadgets working but when i switch over to wireless usb adapter these gadgets cease to function that they no longer respond to network signal status no longer indicate

You need to ensure that you have loaded the correct drivers and software for the usb adaptor.
