Why change your mobile phone

February 20th, 2012 No Comments   Posted in Gadgets

So many things are disposable nowadays. Even love is sometimes disposable.  Disposable plates and utensils make our lives easier but it has tremendous negative impact to the environment by creating trash. Some things last a lifetime like a house if built with quality, heirloom jewelry that can stand the test of time from generation to generations, and a bicycle made of superb material will be forever used in the streets.

In fact, a Danish company is contemplating on making their mobile phones last a lifetime. They are banking on the integrity, functionality and quality of the product. A classic phone that can beat technology without evolving, with simplicity at its finest. It will not have environmental issues that will pose risk to health and the environment.  Less is more by using top grade quality materials in the product.

Luxury watches are still in the business. It never changed its function that is telling time. A bed is built to aid in sleeping. Contrary to evolution, these things have a lasting chance of survival.

Like a pen, its job is to write, just like a mobile phone its basic function is to make a call.

Gadgets that last a lifetime have to use tough quality materials that will withstand everyday use.

Changing the way we think according Jensen will change the way we manufacture things.

Cellphones Wiping Out The Bee Population?

February 20th, 2012 No Comments   Posted in Gadgets

Although it is an unusual phenomenon, the increasing use of mobile phone can actually contribute to food shortages and failed harvest.

Scientists are formulating a theory that the radiation emitted by hi-tech gadgets and mobile phones are causing the abrupt and fast disappearance of bees that contribute to the pollination of crops. Bee-keepers even claimed that this phenomenon, which started in the United States, has already spread to Europe and Britain as well.

The theory is centered around the idea that the radiation emitted from mobile phones affect the navigation systems of bees thus, preventing them from finding their way back to the hives. Although this may seem impossible, there are pieces of evidence that can actually back up this idea.

This phenomenon called the Colony Collapse Disorder or CCD, occurs when the inhabitant of hives suddenly disappear, leaving only the queen, eggs and a number of immature workers. The worker bees are never found and are believed to die far from their hives. The parasites and bees that usually raid pollen and honey, refused to even approach the abandoned hives. The first alarm was released last autumn and by winter, 60 percent of the commercial bee population disappeared in the West Coast. Since then, CCD has spread to Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Greece and even in Italy. In fact, one of the biggest bee-keepers in London reported that 23 out of his 40 beehives have been abandoned.

What’s happening is alarming, especially since most crops heavily depend on bees for pollinations.  There is no definite explanation how or why this is happening and while some people blame pesticides, mites, global warming and GM crops, these theories have drawbacks.

The theory stating that the radiation emitted by mobile phones are contributing to the loss of bees, is actually backed up with German research showing the  change in the behavior of bees living near power lines. Landau University is currently conducting a limited study and results have shown that bees refuse to fly back to their hives, whenever cellphones are placed nearby.

There are already pieces of evidence showing the dangers posed by the use of mobile phones. However, the proof is still not enough, especially since health risks usually take years to show up. Research on the formation of cancer cells due to mobile phone use has already been conducted and results have shown that people using mobile phones for more than a decade were more likely to form brain tumors on the side where they use their phones frequently.

Effects of Mobile Phones On Brain Activity and Memory

December 20th, 2011 No Comments   Posted in Gadgets

There have been recent studies conducted on the effect of mobile phone devices on our memory. Results have shown the ill effects of radiations coming from cell phones, on the memory of lab animals. It has shown to cause brain tissues of lab rats to leak, after prolonged exposure to cellphone radiation. Although it will be hard for us to keep away from our phones because it has finally become a necessity for many of us, one of the best precautionary steps that we could do is use a hands-free so as to avoid direct contact  to radiation.

Will it harm the tissues of the brain and cause brain cancer?

There is an ongoing argument on the possibility of mobile phones causing the chemical structure of the cells to change, and if they cause cancer. A lot of people believe that too much use of cellphones can cause damage to the cells of the brain, because of the heat produced and the radiation emitted by mobile phones. However, a lot of scientists believe that radiation is not harmful to the body’s tissues and in fact, there are no concrete pieces of evidence that show the adverse effect of excessive usage of mobile phones.

Kids should be prevented from using cellphone too much because their brain tissues are not yet fully developed and are more prone to changes in its chemical structure when exposed to mobile phone radiation.

Tips worth remembering

When using your mobile phone to call someone, make sure that you do not place the device close to your ears until the person that you are trying to call picks up his or her phone. The reason behind this is because your cellphone uses its maximum signaling power when dialing it to call somebody. This is equivalent to 33dbi or 2 watts, which can be harmful to the brain tissues. When using your mobile phone, always keep in mind that you place it on your left ear since using the right one directly exposes the brain to radiation. This is a fact that is based on the results shown by many years of research and experiments.

There are many ways of protecting your brain tissues from the harmful effects of cell phone radiation, and one way is by using the hands free option of your phone or by using a head set to avoid direct exposure to mobile phone radiation.

If you want to sell phones because you either don’t need the use for your mobile anymore, or simply want to get rid of your old phones, then trade them in at recycling sites and trade in shops. You get a cash price back as well as doing a good deed.

The boom in today’s technological industry can be contributed to the fact that many companies have released modern devices in the past few years, which many consumers cannot wait to get their hands on. Since a lot of people prefer the same model of devices, there is a need to set an individual identity and this is done by transferring data and downloading apps to their mobile devices. Since these can be downloaded from the internet, there is the possibility of downloading virus along with it.

Determining whether the download is safe or not is not an easy thing to do because even credible websites are at risk for computer viruses. Contrary to common belief, there is no such thing as absolute lack of risk nor of absolute safety. The only best thing that you can do is search for downloads that look less threatening.

Steps to follow

If you are relatively new in downloading apps from the internet, you will be more likely using your logical reasoning rather than gut feel. However, this should not be the case because even experts suggest that you use your feeling when it comes to weighing whether or not something is safe. If you feel funny about a website and feel like there is something wrong with it, such as cheap applications and stolen content, then you should strongly consider giving up the thought of downloading your phone’s ringtone from that website.

In times when ringtones are being given away and can be downloaded for free, you should be cautious and aware of the risk of tracking cookies. Once you download such data with an attached tracking cookie on it, you are giving access to your computer system and data without you even knowing it.

You need to make sure that the website is safe and clean, and this can be done by checking it out on the world wide web. There are many ways to do so and you can even use your favorite search engine to do it.

The cost for download can also be a basis on determining the safety of the download. Although there are websites that allows you to download the ringtones for free, the average price that most websites charge their customers for the ringtones is 3USD. You can avail unlimited downloads by registering for 15USD, which will be good for six months. One year on the other hand, will cost you around 25USD to register.
